SuperThrift is more than a store, it’s a community hub dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery from addiction. Position Summary
This role is the last point of contact for customers and will provide a friendly and efficient checkout experience. The role will include: warmly greeting the customer, asking if they found what they were looking for and offering support or solutions, correctly identifying and scanning all merchandise, processing payment, and thanking them for their business. This position will also support customer returns/exchanges and will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well organized front area. To provide additional store support this position may be trained as a back up for sales clerk and/or production worker and will assist as required.
Key Responsibilities
Cashier
> Assist customers with checkout and purchase.
> Operate checkout equipment including cash register, debit and credit machines and scanners.
> Manage cash through receipt of and providing correct change.
> Process customer payments including cash, credit, debit, coupons and gift certificates.
> Provide friendly and efficient customer service.
> Process returns/exchanges.
Customer Service
> Ensure all customers, donors, and visitors receive courteous, friendly, and efficient service.
> Resolve customer concerns in a professional and respectful manner and escalate to leadership as required.
> Greeting customers, offering assistance, answering questions and offering product recommendations.
> Additional Responsibilities
> As required you will cross trained and/or be asked to assist in other areas within the store.
Sales Clerk
> Stock shelves with new inventory.
> Create and maintain sales displays.
> Assist customers with the fitting rooms and putting away unwanted items.
> Clean and tidy merchandise and display areas.
> Carry product to a customer’s vehicle.
Production worker
> Accept customer donations.
> Sort and categorize donated items.
> Inspect items quality and determine suitability for sale.
> Price items in a consistent manner, in line with company standards.
> Move and organize inventory in the production areas.
Other duties
> Train new staff as required and assigned by store leadership.
> Answer phones.
> Ensure safety of yourself and others by keeping workspaces clean and organized.
> Support other team members as required.
> Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Credentials
> High School Diploma or equivalent.
> One (1) year experience in cash preferred.
> Experience in thrift, retail, production, sales, or customer service is an asset.
> Experience working with a POS system and basic computer applications.
> Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Clearance.

Work Environment
> The position involves a physical component including but not limited to bending, lifting up to 25lbs, twisting, reaching, walking, extended periods of standing, and using stairs.

> Possible exposure to allergens, such as dust, pet hair or dander, and strong scents.
> Flexible schedule including working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
> Contact with other staff, program students, volunteers, and the general public.

Compensation
$16.00 per hour
