Position Overview: Day to day management of all aspects of the Super Thrift store: organization, receiving product by donation, pricing items for retail, structuring of sales floor and managing front line staff. 

This is not a complete list of this position’s duties and responsibilities. Managers may assign other duties. The items below are examples of the types of activities performed.

Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure all organization, planning, development, implementation, and administration of the thrift store is run with excellence and meeting the budget requirements. 
  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff, volunteers, and ATC students
  • Sort, price, mark, create and display products  
  • Ensure the store is clean, organized.
  • Ensure the store meets all city, provincial, federal and ATC accreditation requirements for retail and safety. 
  • Planning, developing, implementing and administering the store retail sales.
  • Ensuring the storage of donations is neat and orderly.
  • Lead the request of items needed in conjunction with the store retail sales operation. 
  • Provide leadership to the Superthrift social media pages making regular creative posts.
  • Interviewing and hiring of thrift store staff in collaboration with HR.
  • Perform performance evaluations, feedback and improvement plans for thrift staff in collaboration with HR.
  • Creation of the schedule for staff and volunteers.
  • Participation in new personnel growth, & training.

Budgetary: Review annual thrift store budget with your supervisor. Participate, promote and support fundraising for the ministry of Adult & Teen Challenge of Central Canada. 

Collaboration: Internal collaboration: The Store Manager is responsible for communicating with the SuperThrift Director on what thrift store items are needed to meet targets and what items can be sold. The SuperThrift Director is responsible for procuring all items for the thrift store, whether they are donated or purchased. The Store Manager is to be aware of what donations have come in and/or are coming in. Collaborate with the Program Director for student work teams. Work alongside the provided program work supervisor to train ATC students in the Thrift vocational training tracks.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in thrift store management
  • Enthusiastic about the thrift store industry 
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with the all departments
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and advise staff and students as necessary
  • Discretion and patience working alongside at-risk individuals
  • Conflict resolution experience or training an asset
  • A basic working knowledge of email and web-based programs
  • Valid driver’s license and own transportation
  • Ability to lift 20lbs 
  • Flexible with scheduling

Compensation

$55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
