Position Summary

This role plays a critical role in the daily flow of donations, back end operations, and inventory levels of the store. It involves the safe collection and delivery of donated items and plays a key part in warehouse maintenance and configuration. This position will ensure the efficient and safe organization of inventory within the warehouse, and provide a smooth flow of donations. It will have a high degree of interaction with individual and business donors, and must create and maintain a positive brand reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Truck Driver
• Operate a commercial truck safely and responsibly within all laws and regulations.
• Travel throughout designated areas picking up donated items from donor homes and businesses.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of company vehicles being used and report any maintenance issues immediately.
• Ensure all items are secured for transport to support safety and prevent damage.
• Maintain accurate records of pick-ups, donor receipts and route logs.
• Delegate and oversee work for other staff and students assigned to assist the role.
• Provide professional and courteous service to all donors.
• Load and unload the truck safely, utilizing or wearing appropriate safety equipment such as gloves, steel toe footwear, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.

Warehouse Worker
• Sort, organize, and stock incoming donations in the warehouse.
• Assess the condition of donated goods and assist in determining suitability for sale.
• Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized according to safety standards and report any safety concerns promptly.
• Support rag out and write off process as required.
• Assist in moving and displaying items on the sales floor as needed.
• Collaborate with store staff, volunteers, and students to manage inventory.
• Ensure all customers, donors, and visitors receive courteous, friendly, and efficient service.
• Work closely with the Production Manager - if applicable.

Additional Responsibilities

Other duties
• Train new staff as required and assigned by store leadership.
• Ensure safety of yourself and others by keeping the truck and warehouse clean and organized.
• Support other team members as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Credentials
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license (specific class requirements may vary based on vehicle type and province of work).
• Clean driver’s abstract.
• Proven experience as a truck driver, delivery driver, or similar type role required.
• Experience in a warehouse or manual labour environment preferred.
• Experience in thrift is preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Vulnerable Sector Clearance.

Work Environment
• The position involves a physical component including but not limited to bending, lifting up to 75lbs, twisting, climbing, reaching, consistent walking, extended periods of sitting or standing, and using stairs.
• Use of safety equipment as required.
• Repetitive tasks, duties, and movements throughout shift.
• Possible exposure to allergens, such as dust, pet hair or dander, and strong scents.
• Working in both a warehouse and work truck.
• Flexible schedule including working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Work is both inside and outside in hot and cold temperatures with possible exposure to extreme weather conditions.
• Contact with other staff, program students, volunteers, and the general public.
• The work environment reflects the Christ-centered mission of Adult and Teen Challenge, where staff collaborate in ministry-focused work that supports individuals in their recovery journey.

Compensation

$18.95 per hour
